In 2013 a paradigm shift was observed. Anchoring on TV was more like my son playing GTA V, and its further tweeting was the playground discussion before morning assembly of gamers discussing why GTA was better than Minecraft or Halo, regrouping and further flaunting about levels passed and finesse a la execution.
We also witnessed forced programs, just for the sake of adjusting senior anchors. Adjusting the egoes, not the talents. Some out of the way stuff, like "curling" in winter olympics. Or "kabaddi" in Asian games.
Weekend agendas were like an effort to trend bhangra in a ISKCON show outside London Central, Completely disconnected with ongoing issues, we could see women rights elitists journalists commenting on the nations foreign policy, to Panchayti raj advocates commenting of freedom of rural women.
Panelists - This pool of experts can be termed as 99 cents shops. Some permanent poodles hopping around channels, using 16th century English language to confuse the viewers, and delivering it like a hiraman popat.
This term "Breaking News" was broken down to electrons. I thought this term surely had hurt Jesus in 2 BC, hence this cruel punishment.
The champuianship is on. Soon we will have various awards concluding 2013.
But, for the sake of my jurnal knaaledge (yes I pronounce it like this.. "old gaarment iskool"), can the pundits tell why did they take journalism as their careers?? What is their responsibility towards India?? Towards the Indian Society? Towards their future generation??? They play a very important part in formulating public opinion, but do they realize that they are confusing everyone around??? In this age of communication they are not simply messengers (constant Shakespeare alibi they use) they are creating it - The message.
Be a responsible journalist - PLEASE.
